The 2nd international conference on
"Networks Of Cellular Surveillance Mechanisms"
taking place in Heidelberg, Germany, October 22-24, 2018

Organizers: Carmen Nussbaum-Krammer, Bernd Bukau, Sylvia Erhardt, Rüdiger Hell, Gislene Pereira & Aurelio Teleman

It is our great pleasure to invite you to the international congress "Networks Of Cellular Surveillance Mechanisms". The conference will take place on October 22 - 24, 2018 at the DKFZ Communication Center, Im Neuenheimer Feld 280, 69120 Heidelberg, Germany.

The meeting begins on October 22 at 2 pm (registration) and ends on October 24 around 1 pm.

The conference is organized by the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center 1036 entitled "Cellular Surveillance And Damage Responses" (SFB 1036), a scientific network based in Heidelberg, involving over 20 laboratories from various research institutions - University of Heidelberg, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).

Our aim is to bring together leading scientists and PhD students/postdocs from the various fields of research connected to this topic and thereby to deepen our understanding of the connections that link cellular surveillance and damage responses at different levels in cells and organisms.

The sessions will cover the following topics:

• Cellular buffering capacities to maintain homeostasis
• Epigenetic and environmental regulation of stress responses
• Mechanisms of regulated and aberrant protein aggregation

Abstract submission guidelines:

We welcome abstract submissions on related topics for the poster session, which will take place in the evening of the first day. Please download the abstract template and follow the instructions therein: (click here).

A number of short-talks - preferentially by early career scientists - will be selected from submitted abstracts by the organizers in advance. Please indicate whether you would like to present a short talk during the abstract submission procedure. 15-min time slots (for a 12-min talk followed by a 3-min discussion) are reserved in the program. Applicants will be notified at least three weeks before the conference. .

The meeting is free of charge. Attendants must make their own travel and accomodation arrangements and cover their expenses. Financial support is not available for this meeting.

Due to numerous requests: it is possible to attend the conference without registration!
