Bioprinting for tissue and organ engineering

Our lab investigates biofabrication technologies and bioinks suitable for tissue and organ engineering, and their impact on the structure and function of natural and synthetic living tissues.

Our goals

  1. Study the impact of biofabrication technologies on cell growth and behaviour in 3D
  2. Investigate synthetic alternatives to the human cell for tissue engineering applications
  3. Develop biofabrication technologies and novel bioinks for in vitro, in situ and in vivo tissue and organ engineering
  4. Design and investigate 3D models of human tissues in health and disease

Our projects

  1. FauxLIFE: Bioprinting synthetic cells, Funding: Cluster of Excellence 3DMM2O
  2. ORGAprint: Damage in organoids after bioprinting, Funding: Cluster of Excellence 3DMM2O
  3. BlindZero: In vivo bioprinting keratoplasty, Funding: BMBF NanoMatFutur
  4. LIGHTHEART: Surgical optogenetic bioprinting of engineered cardiac muscle, Funding: ERC StG
